Service Description

This course is designed with families in mind, to give you the knowledge and confidence to enjoy safe paddling trips with your family in your chosen craft - Kayak, Canoe or SUP. Date - 16th August What to expect: 10:00-10:30 - Meet and greet - Introductions and group aims 10:30-11:00 - Dry theory session; equipment, environment and journey planning. 11:00-11:20 - Morning break 11:20 - 12:30 - Progressing paddling skills, looking at a variety of paddle strokes for efficient paddling. 12:30 - 13:15 - Lunch 13:15 - 15:00 - The fun bit, practicing your rescues, problem solving, calling for help (You will get wet!) 15:00 - 15:30 - Wrap up and review Price: £100 - tickets include 1 adult & up to 2 childrens places What to wear: Warm, comfy clothes suitable for being outside at the time of year Comfortable walking boots or trainers What to bring: Lunch Full water bottle Notebook and pen Extra warm layer, waterproof coat and trousers Full change of clothes, spare closed toe shoes and a towel Advised: Changing robe, Dry suit or wet suit, Cag or light waterproof coat, wet boots or wet shoes If you own: Paddling gear; Boat/Board, BA, helmet, safety equipment, dry bag *Please note that we do not provide personal clothing such as wet suits or wet shoes* More info: Course price includes; Instruction, all safety equipment, use of Kayaks, SUPs & paddles, tea, coffee & biscuits, parking, your Paddle Safer and Discover award certificates are included. Lunch is not included, please bring a packed lunch and snacks. Water refills are available, please bring a reusable water bottle with you. Tea & Coffee is served with optional Oat milk and sugar. You are encouraged to bring your own BA's, helmets and any safety equipment as well as your own boats, please state which craft you will bring on your booking form. All external craft and equipment will be checked by an Omega instructor before it can be used on the course. No previous experience is necessary to complete the Discover or Paddle Safer awards, there is also no age limit, however children must be 8 years or older to attend this course and must only attend with a responsible adult who is also attending the course. The toilet block is situated at the main entrance, approximately 5 minutes walk from the lake. Changing is available in the separate Male and Female changing tents at Base Camp, or if you prefer at your car (If you require a separate changing tent please let us know in advance).


Cancellation Policy

Bookings are non-refundable. In the case of extreme poor weather we will reschedule the session.
